Mander Park Playground sits on Third Avenue in the Avenues area of central Whangarei, a medium-sized reserve built around a rotonet, a junior multi-play structure with slides, a climbing frame, spring toys, and a full swing set with an infant swing and a basket swing. The mix of junior and standard equipment means younger children have the infant swing, basket swing, spring toy, and multi-play structure to themselves while older siblings take on the rotonet and climbing frame in the same space.

Always a good place for a gentle walk around the perimeter while the kids run riot tiring themselves out on the playground.

Lovely picturesque little park that is perfect for quick stop-ins to stretch the kids' legs on the long road trips. Great variety of playground equipment, plenty of shady areas for picnics, and well-kept toilets close-by make it a must to check out if you're coming through Whangarei with a young family.

Took my 9 year old son. The play equipment is better suited to younger children I think. We found the playground at the town basin better for him. …

The park equipment is limited but has free parking, which is getting increasingly rare in these parts. A good and fairly easy walk through for a lovely forest bath and very nice picnic spots where you may find some ducks in the river too.

Awesome park lots of room for children to run. The play ground is really good but not fenced and is close to a road. There is toilets and a drinking fountain as well as picnic tables.

Today, I attended a birthday Party at Mander Park. This park caters perfectly for Family gatherings as there was multiple parties going at the same time with a magnificent play ground for the children to play on, ample shade under the mature spectacular trees for the adults and some public toilets for everyones convenience. And a huge amount of public parking. Beautiful venue.
