Why these ages?

Boat-shaped playground with infant swing, basket swing and sand play zone for toddlers; flying fox, tubular slide and spider web for older kids. Skate area is small and adjacent to half basketball court, not the play zone. Reserve wooden boardwalks lead to a mangrove swamp on the harbour side - some water proximity but the play area itself sits back on the reserve, not right at the water edge. Rutherford Street is quiet residential. Reviewer flags maintenance issues: 'wooden boards need to be checked for nails, flying fox out of action'.

Equipment

Northboro Reserve in Belmont centres on a boat shaped playground with a boardwalk across the middle, a small climbing frame, swings and a spider web net, plus a tubular slide, a flying fox, an infant swing and sand play. A skate park and half basketball court sit in the same compact reserve, making it a popular after school stop for a wider age range than a playground alone usually draws.

Great walking and cycling track, well maintained and really flat. You can go on Lake Road and go all the way to Davenport for a drink or a swim. Most of the road has cycle lanes to make the journey easier and safer. Generally good for novices or intermediate walkers or cyclists.

Great little park for a quick dog walk! There’s a path that leads all the way to Devonport - perfect trip on a sunny day.

Lovely walking area with great views. Enjoyed looking for different bird species. Children's playground has some good features but the swings and flying fox are incomplete and the wooden boards need to be checked for nails

Pretty good little playground, never very busy (and just a few minutes walk from daily bread for a coffee or snack!). Pretty basketball court looking over the harbour bridge, and a little bit of skate area around it. Some of the equipment …

Northboro Reserve starts in Francis At Takapuna and ends in Bayswater Ave. It consists of a windy wooden footbridge, playground with flying fox, a concrete 3m wide foot and cycle bridge and O'Neal cemetery. On the concrete bridge you get a good view of the sunset. This is a popular place to walkers, bikers, and joggers. Under the bridge you can kayak during high tide
