Great playground for toddlers. Only issue is no toilet.
Opunake Walkway Playground
Ōpunake 4616
Access notes
The playground surface uses rubber matting around the main structures within a wide flat reserve, and parking sits in the flat reserve too. A toilet block is nearby via the surf life saving clubhouse, though not confirmed as accessible.
What's here
The standout piece at this South Taranaki beachfront playground is a rubber mountain that mirrors the snow-capped silhouette of nearby Mount Taranaki. Children scramble up its slopes, peer through talking tubes and slide back down, while custom-built surfboards alongside it capture the ocean spirit of Ōpunakē in a way that immediately tells you this is no ordinary park.
