Hamurana Reserve Playground

The playground at Hamurana Reserve sits on the northern shore of Lake Rotorua in the small lakeside settlement of Hamurana, a compact but scenic stop with swings, a slide, and a spinner right on the water's edge, suited to toddlers and early school-age children.

Equipment

A multi-play structure with slide, swings including an infant bay, and a solo spinner sit on bark safety surfacing. The site is small, but its lakeside setting adds plenty of interest: black swans are a regular presence on the water just beyond the fence, and the view across Lake Rotorua toward the city forms a constant backdrop.

Access and Inclusion

Street parking is available near the reserve, and the flat path down to the playground and shoreline suits pushchairs. No dedicated wheelchair-accessible play equipment is noted at this site.

Practical Info

BBQs, toilets, and picnic areas are available in the wider reserve. The paved Hamurana Lakefront Reserve Walkway, Te Ara Tahuna a Pukeko, starts nearby and suits pushchairs and early walkers, and lake swimming and fishing are popular in summer. The playground has been in place since around 2005, and Rotorua Lakes Council's smokefree policy applies.
