Prince Regent Drive Playground

Prince Regent Drive Playground is a small neighbourhood playground in Pakuranga Domain, built around a multi-play structure with a tubular slide, a spring-loaded see-saw and a swing set that includes an infant swing, making it best suited to toddlers and younger children.

History and Cultural

In August 2025, a local grandmother who had lived nearby since 1992 spoke publicly about the playground's rundown state, pointing to paint flaking off the swing chains, missing pieces of equipment, tripping hazards and woodchips causing splinters underfoot. She noted the red swing alone was already more than 33 years old, underlining how long this small reserve has served as a play space for the surrounding community.

Practical Info

A pedestrian tunnel under the road links the playground to Wakaaranga Creek Reserve and on to kilometres of coastal walking paths toward Pakuranga and Bucklands Beach, and schools use the playground during the week alongside local families on weekends. Parking is on street around the domain, with some tree shade falling over the equipment and picnic table area, though sun protection is worth bringing since it isn't fully shaded.
