Rousehill Reserve Playground

Rousehill Reserve Playground sits at the centre of Renwick, a wine-country village near Blenheim, surrounded by mature shade trees that make it one of the more sheltered reserves in Marlborough.

Equipment

The playground was comprehensively upgraded in summer 2021 and 2022, with a junior multi-play structure with slide, swings including an infant swing, a small carousel and a tunnel, on a bark surface. Shade sails cover most of the equipment and seating.

Access and Inclusion

New pathways thread through the reserve, and drinking fountains and dog water taps were added as part of the upgrade. Public toilets are on site.

History and Cultural

The upgrade followed sustained advocacy from tamariki at Renwick Kindergarten, whose Enviroschools journey with the reserve began in 2013, and an interpretive plinth bearing a Maori whakatauki was installed as part of the renewal.
