Rutherford Reserve

Rutherford Reserve is a recently revamped playground in Meadowbank, Auckland, set within a large grassy reserve with an elevated outlook over the neighbourhood. The equipment spans toddlers through to older kids, with a flying fox and a train ride among the highlights.

Equipment

A multi-play structure with a slide anchors the set, alongside a rotonet, a flying fox, and a train for younger children to ride. Swings include both an infant swing and a basket swing, and a solo spinner rounds out the equipment. A fenced junior area keeps toddlers separate from the busier zones.

Access and Inclusion

Shade sails cover part of the multi-play structure, with established trees offering some extra cover for seating and spectators. There are no public toilets or drinking fountain on site, so it is worth bringing water. On-street parking is available, and dogs are not permitted.

Practical Info

Rutherford Reserve's current playground dates from 2016, and can be reached from Archdall Street, Rippon Crescent, or Rutherford Terrace. Picnic tables and seating are dotted through the grounds.
