Spencer Park's adventure playground suits a full day out, mixing climbing equipment, slides and swings with a scatter of novelty extras on forgiving bark, within a pine backed reserve at the Waimakariri River mouth. Brooklands Lagoon's wetland trails and a patrolled surf beach are both an easy walk away.

    We had a great visit to Spencer Park. There’s so much to see and do—between the playground, paddling pool, BBQ and picnic areas, and the wide open grassy fields, there was always something happening. We didn’t even make it to the nearby beach, as there was already plenty to fit into one day. We’d happily return. The main disappointment was the amount of rubbish around the park. From a distance it looks fine, but up close there was litter scattered throughout—diapers near the paddling pool, and small bits of rubbish around the playground and picnic areas. This feels less like an issue with the council and more about how we, as visitors, treat our shared green spaces. If we want to keep places like this enjoyable for everyone, it’s important we all take responsibility. We spent a fair bit of time picking up rubbish ourselves and would encourage others to do the same.

    Spent the day here after a long absence, the park was great the farmyard was abit disappointing with only a few roosters, 2 pigs and some birds in an Avery. Plenty of picnic tables BUT not 1 single rubbish bin, in fact signs posted say to put it all in your boot

    The place is quiet and yet kids can run around safely with nice park for them. Toilets are clean as and with music which is nice. I'd recommend staying and rate it a 10

    Great park with multiple picnic spots, valley ball court and bbq areas. Plenty of park infrastuctre to keep kids busy, perfect for a wee family picnic or groups. First come first serve, no booking required. 5 mins walk to beach. Finding a shaded spot might be difficult on busy day

    Very nice park. The picnic area should have spots for real BBQ, not New Zealanders ones with gas, but normal ones with fire. The park is a pine grove, very pleasent for a walk and there are several bike tracks. The sea front is very nice and relaxing (and quite windy XD). Recommend

    Great playground for the kids .. 3 flying foxes and other equipment. Paddling pool... Massive open space...walks... Small animal park over the road. Very old school mini golf at old school prices. Adrenaline park over the road..prices look a little step...but awesum experience by the looks.

    I try to go every year to this 2 day Gala. This year I had the pleasure of sharing a stall with a friend and got to meet heaps of cool people and eat heaps of beautiful food from different countries, "OUTSTANDING"
