Fenced playgrounds in Christchurch

A fence changes what a trip to the playground feels like when you have a runner or more than one child under five. These are playgrounds where we have a record of fencing around the play area, usually separating it from a road, a carpark or open water. Fencing quality varies a lot: some are full perimeter fences with self-closing gates, others are a rail along the road edge only.

Fencing is recorded from council asset registers, playground descriptions and visitor reports. It is not a safety certification, and gates can be left open. Always check the site yourself before letting a small child run.
