Te Kauwhata Village Green Playground

Te Kauwhata Village Green Playground is the main community playground in the small lakeside town of Te Kauwhata, between Hamilton and Auckland.

Equipment

The fenced play area has an inground carousel, a vehicle frame, a basket swing, swings with an infant swing, a see-saw, a track glide, a climbing module and spring rockers, on a bark surface, plus an adjoining skate park for older kids.

Access and Inclusion

Established trees shade much of the play equipment, seating and picnic table, an advantage over most small-town playgrounds in the district.

Practical Info

Toilets and seating are on site. Te Kauwhata sits on the shores of Lake Waikare and takes its name from a Maori word for a food-drying frame, reflecting the area's long history of Maori habitation beside the lake. Waikato District Council operates the playground.
