Tuna Tce Playground

Tuna Tce Playground is a compact neighbourhood play space on Tuna Terrace in Tītahi Bay, tucked into the residential streets of this west-coast Porirua suburb where the beach is rarely more than a short walk away.

The setting

Tuna Terrace runs through the southern residential area of Tītahi Bay, a suburb of around 6,600 people on a short peninsula facing the Tasman Sea and Cook Strait. Tītahi Bay's neighbourhood reserves are spread across the suburb's hills and flat blocks, each providing local children with play space close to home. Tuna in te reo Māori refers to freshwater eel, a culturally significant species tied to waterways across the region.

The playground

Off Tuna Terrace, Tītahi Bay. Street parking is available. From Porirua City Centre allow 10 minutes by car via Kenepuru Drive and Bay Road through Tītahi Bay.
