The playground is a bit bland compared to what it was when I was younger, definitely built for smaller children. No bin in the area where parents and caregivers can sit which is a little inconvenient. Nice enough place with a badminton centre and tennis place too.
Victor Eaves Park
87 Florence Avenue, Orewa 0931
Why these ages?
Wooden tree hut, cubby house with slide, basket/standard swings, spinning carousel and mini scooter track. Description explicitly warns 'unfenced, parents of younger children need to watch the perimeter'. Flying fox draws school-age kids. Suits toddler with attention through early primary; tweens have less draw beyond the flying fox.
Access notes
The main play surface is bark chip, and two separate reviews describe the park paths as poorly drained and impassable without gumboots in the wet season. No accessible parking or toilet is confirmed near the play area.
What's here
Victor Eaves Park is a well rounded playground on the edge of Orewa's sports precinct, on Auckland's Hibiscus Coast, with a flying fox that draws school age kids most afternoons and a wooden tree hut for younger children to explore at their own pace.
