Western Park Playground
5/7 Howe Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland 1011
Why these ages?
Flush poured-rubber surfacing, inground trampolines, infant swing, young-child slide and accessible carousel let toddlers roam safely with prams. Basket swing and wheelchair whirl-around widen inclusive supervision. Multiple slides, seesaw, treehouses, balance features and flying fox keep primary-age kids busy; slalom pole and flying fox stretch to tweens. No water, road-edge or tall-fall hazards noted; inner-city siting is bounded by park edges.
Access notes
Continuous poured rubber surfacing runs flush with paths at every entry point, removing kerb and step barriers, and the redesign includes a wheelchair accessible carousel plus inground trampolines, explicitly prioritising wheelchair and pram access.

Equipment
Western Park's compact inner-city playground punches well above its size for inclusive design, tucked into a coffin-shaped wedge of parkland between Ponsonby Road and Beresford Street that has served as Auckland's oldest municipal park since 1871.
