Awakairangi Park, also known as Awa Kairangi Park or Bridge Park, sits on the Totara Park side of Upper Hutt right beside Te Awa Kairangi, the Hutt River, with a simple tilley tilt rocker for younger children and a riverside loop track that makes it as much a trailhead as a playground. We’re truly spoilt with this park. It’s expansive and caters to all kinds of recreation, with manicured grounds, a sealed shared path along the stopbank offering great views, and easy access to the Maoribank Swimming Hole. A great place to walk, run, cycle, play sports or walk the dog.

Excellent place to take your kids. The park/ walkway is huge and great fun to use in conjunction with a Lime Scooter. Works out to about. 30cents per minute. Great fun as long as the rider is careful, sensible and uses common sense.

Lovely open fields for sports and lovely walks along the stop bank. The walk is part of the Hutt River (Te Awakairangi) Trail. The toilet block is a functional old school concrete block, gloomy!

Great large open space right next to the Hutt river but also accessable from highway 2 at Totara Park. Lots of events and plenty of room to visit any time. Perfect for sporting events. Walking distance to the Totara Park shops
