Lazar Park Hall, Playground, Community Garden and Public Toilet

Lazar Park Playground in Hokitika was redeveloped by the Hokitika Lions Club, with council and Playground Centre support, to make the space more inclusive and suited to more types of play. The nearly 7-metre Black Forest Tower is the standout feature, with a central climbing chimney, baskets, a rope bridge, a scramble net and ladders.

Equipment

Alongside the tower, a themed play ship brings its own climbing net and wobbly bridge, and a generous basket swing sits on a soft bark base. Soft protective matting covers key areas of the play space.

Access and Inclusion

A wheelchair-accessible carousel and the matted surfaces mean wheelchairs and strollers can navigate the play space alongside everyone else.
