Why these ages?

Tiny play area (swings, infant seat, steering wheel) aimed at toddlers, but Hutt River forms western edge of reserve and families combine visits with wading. Water is present, no fence. Distance from equipment to river gives some buffer but a parent cannot look away. Equipment thin for anyone over 4.

Accessibility
Partial access
- Bark or wood-chip surface (wheels sink)
Access notes

Equipment sits on a mix of artificial surface and bark, so loose bark sections remain a barrier for wheelchair users despite off street parking and public toilets being available nearby.

Moonshine Park's playground sits on a broad flat riverside reserve on Moonshine Road in Trentham, where the Hutt River forms the western edge and mature trees line the bank. It is a small, simple play space with swings, including an infant seat, and a steering wheel activity piece, aimed mainly at toddlers and young children who have room to run on the surrounding grass.

A lovely spot to stretch the legs and walk the dog, with easy routes through to Trentham Memorial Park, Barton’s Bush, or along the Hutt River Trail for scenic river views. It’s a great place for a picnic and some fresh air, and the sealed roadway provides a smooth, enjoyable cycling connection to the Hutt River Trail.

Another world class dog walking park. Lots of room and safe car parking during day. The park gates are secured once darkness settles.

Used to love going here, is now very overgrown and the car park is blocked off so you can't drive, to access the good swimming holes

A bit chilly late in the day, but a nice quiet spot close to the river. There is a small play area for children. Nice to stop and stretch the legs.

I love this place. Nice walk along the river where there is heaps of open space and generally well looked after grass. Great for picnics, flying drones, racing your remote controlled cars, taking the dirt bike out for a blast or just walking down to the river to throw rocks in. Towards the Silverstream end, there is another park and a smaller walk up along and through some trees and shrubbery where you can chill on a bench or just take a rest. There are quite a number of car parks here, just note that it closes at dusk everyday.

Cute walking area connected to the bigger Trentham park; both extremely good options for spending time with friends, pets and family. Great for runners too. Easy river access a nice bonus.
