Whakatiki Park

Whakatiki Park's playground packs a wide equipment spread into a compact space in Trentham, Upper Hutt, with a long, fast flying fox as the highlight for older kids.

Equipment

Alongside the flying fox, the playground has senior and junior multi play structures with slides, swings including a basket swing and a turn spike carousel, a climbing net, a seesaw, spring toys and a maypole, all on bark chip. A separate fenced junior area has a tractor themed piece and its own junior multi play structure for younger children.

Access and Inclusion

The wider park is open and unfenced, with the junior area fenced within it. On street parking is available on Whakatiki Street, and the flat layout is easy for mixed age families to navigate.

History and Cultural

Whakatiki Park is a multi purpose reserve that also holds sports fields and clubrooms, with Upper Hutt Junior Cricket running dual pitch matches from the grounds. Trentham train station is within walking distance for families arriving from Wellington.

Practical Info

No toilets are noted on site, and there is no formal car park beyond street parking on Whakatiki Street.
