Papatakohe Park

Papatakohe Park is a large, well equipped playground on Tangaroa Street in Cambridge, popular enough with families to be named a 2025 finalist in the NZ Recreation Parks Awards. A fenced junior zone keeps toddler scale equipment separate from the bigger structures, so mixed age groups can each find their level.

Equipment

The equipment spans a tower with tubular slides and a junior embankment slide, a double flying fox with a separate junior slide, water play and a sandpit, a basket swing, a you and me swing, an infant swing, inground trampolines, a see saw, a caterpillar rocker, an inground carousel, a hanging basket, balance logs, and musical play instruments. The fenced junior area groups the toddler appropriate pieces, including the water play and infant swing, apart from the larger equipment.

Access and Inclusion

On street parking is available on Tangaroa Street, and shade gazebos cover the barbecue and picnic areas. Toilets, a barbecue, and picnic tables are all on site.
