Speldhurst Park

Speldhurst Park is a mid-sized playground in Stokes Valley combining a leisure play area with a basketball court and open grass, well suited to a range of ages from toddlers to older children. Swings including an infant swing, twin multi-play structures with slides, a climbing frame, a dippy disk, and a skate ramp give the site enough variety for a family visit that spans several age groups.

History and Cultural

Speldhurst Park takes its name from Speldhurst Farm, a rural property that once occupied the centre of Stokes Valley. A 1920s photograph shows the farm homestead standing in an otherwise rural valley, on the site that now forms part of the park grounds. The playground itself was established before 2009.

Practical Info

Street parking is available on Stokes Valley Road. There is no shade directly over the play equipment or nearby seating, though established trees behind the playground offer some shade for spectators. A council smokefree policy covers the site.
