Steele Park Playground

Steele Park playground in Hamilton East is a medium-sized, fenced play space on an artificial surface, with a varied equipment set that includes spinning, balancing, and trampolining options alongside traditional swings and see-saws. A separate fenced junior area with its own equipment makes it a solid choice for families with toddlers as well as older children.

Equipment

The playground includes a rotonet, see-saws, swings, a basket swing, balance logs, a balance disk, inground trampolines, a spinner, a basket spinner, and a small eagles nest climbing feature. The fenced junior area has its own inground trampoline and basket swing, giving the youngest visitors a contained space. The inground trampolines sit flush with the surface throughout.

Access and Inclusion

The play area is fully fenced and the junior zone is separately enclosed. Public toilets, changing rooms, a sports pavilion, park benches, and picnic tables are on site. Street parking is available on Grey Street.

Practical Info

Steele Park is Hamilton East's oldest park, named for Lieutenant Steele who arrived in Hamilton in 1864. Two sports fields and two cricket pitches make it a busy community hub year-round. Hamilton East village cafes are a short walk away. Hamilton City Council's smokefree policy covers the playground and green spaces.
