Swanson Park

Swanson Park is the open green beside Māngere Bridge's shops in Auckland, and its small playground sits just behind the Māngere Bridge Library, so a quick play fits easily around a library visit or a coffee in the village. The council lists it as a public-access playground on the same reserve as the library.¹

Equipment

The play space is compact. Aerial imagery shows a single rectangle of loose soft-fall on the lawn behind the library, with a large tree beside it shading part of the patch. Reviewers describe it as a small playground for little kids, so it sounds best suited to toddlers and preschoolers rather than confident climbers. What older kids get here is room to run: the rest of the park is a sports field the council lists as a bookable training ground,² ringed by floodlight poles. Bring a ball. One reviewer warns the sand-based pitch is uneven in places and found the football goals broken.

Practical Info

We can't see a fence around the play area from above, and the town centre car park runs along the field's east edge, so keep an eye on runners heading that way. The library next door has an accessible toilet, a level entrance path and mobility parking front and back, and opens every day, until 7pm on Thursdays.³ Cafes and shops are a short walk away in the township. For a second play stop, Mangere Domain Playground is about 600 metres away.
