Taita Park

Taita Park is a neighbourhood playground in Lower Hutt's Taita suburb, within easy reach of the Hutt River and the wider Fraser Park sports complex.

The playground has balance equipment and a half basketball court, plus swings including an infant swing and a junior slide, on an artificial surface.

Access and Inclusion

Seating is on site with on street parking. The proximity to Fraser Park and the Hutt River means families can combine a playground visit with a river walk or a bigger park day.

History and Cultural

Taita developed from the 1940s under the Labour Government's state housing programme. The suburb's Christ Church, erected in 1853, is the oldest surviving church building in the Wellington region, predating the state houses by a century.

Taita railway station on the Hutt Valley Line is within the suburb, with regular Metlink services to Wellington and Upper Hutt. Lower Hutt City Council's smokefree policy applies.
