Tawa Park is a pocket-sized playground at the end of Langdon Lane in Melville, Hamilton, the kind of quiet corner you mostly find if you live nearby. The council lists it as a small neighbourhood playground with three pieces of play equipment, including play for under-fives.1
Equipment
The council asset register names a timber modular play unit, a basket swing and a spring rocker.2 It is a short list, but it covers what toddlers and preschoolers want: something to clamber over, a basket swing for children not yet steady on a standard seat, and a rocker for the very youngest. Older primary kids will run out of things to do quickly.
The play area went in during 2005, and the council's 2026 playground layer classes it as an old neighbourhood playground,3 so expect equipment showing its age rather than a recent refresh.
Practical Info
The way in is on foot from the end of Langdon Lane, which opens onto the park.1 One visitor described it as small, run-down and hard to get to, and liked it for exactly those reasons: it stays quiet. A timber park bench and a picnic table give parents somewhere to sit,4 but no toilets are recorded here, and the council does not build toilets at smaller neighbourhood playgrounds.5
For more variety, Gower Park is about 280 metres away, and the larger Mahoe Park Playground is roughly 800 metres off.
