Great little wooden park, quiet street that isn't far off the old highway. Suitable for ages 3+. There isn't any public facilities though. Nearest public toilet is up near the corner store/dairy. The orange slide is super fast!
Wairaka Road Playground
8B Wairaka Road, Pukerua Bay, Porirua 5026
Why these ages?
Pukerua Bay's main play is fenced but multiple reviews warn it is scaled for older kids (5-6+) with a steep orange slide, glider flying fox and mound tunnel — description lists a basket swing and small playhouse but toddlers will find most of it too big. Better for confident primary-aged climbers. Toilets at nearby dairy. Fencing helps but doesn't fix the age fit.
Access notes
Description explicitly says the playground sits on a hillside saddle with a bark and grass paver surface. That combination of a hilly site and loose surfacing makes wheelchair access very difficult.
What's here
Wairaka Road Playground is the main dedicated play space for Pukerua Bay, Porirua's northernmost seaside suburb, set on a hillside saddle with views toward Kāpiti Island.
