Yaldhurst Nature Playground

Yaldhurst Nature Playground on Sir John McKenzie Drive is a nature-play destination opened within the last five years, built from natural-material equipment: balance logs, an embankment slide built into an earth mound, a see-saw, swings with an infant seat, climbing poles and a tunnel through the mound base.

Equipment

The playground is built on a bark-over-Matta-tile surface. The embankment slide and tunnel suit younger children particularly well, while the balance logs and climbing poles challenge the primary-school range, and the infant swing covers the youngest visitors.

Practical Info

On-street parking is available in the surrounding residential streets. Christchurch City Council operates a smokefree and vapefree policy here. As a newer reserve within the Yaldhurst Park development, the planting around the playground is still maturing and will add more canopy in coming years.
