Little Rangitoto Reserve

Little Rangitoto Reserve in Remuera packs a long flying fox, a concrete skate bowl, and a circular bike loop into one compact park, a versatile stop that suits preschoolers through intermediate age children.

Equipment

A multi-level climbing structure with slides, ramps, monkey bars, balance beams, and tunnels covers most ages, alongside a separate toddler swing bay and a standard swing frame. The flying fox runs the full length of the play zone and is the reason many families make the trip. Everything sits on bark mulch.

The Wider Reserve

Little Rangitoto was once a scoria volcanic cone that was quarried away during the nineteenth century, leaving a flat, tree-ringed basin that stays shaded on hot afternoons. A concrete skate bowl with banked sides suits beginner and intermediate skateboarders, and a sealed loop path around the reserve is popular with bikes, trikes, and scooters, though tree-root lifting means some bumps.

Dogs are permitted on lead, and street parking runs along Upland Road. There are no toilets on site, the nearest are a few minutes downhill in Remuera village.
