Lots of space and very quiet. Nice place to have a think about life or take your dog for a wander without hoards of onlookers mooching into your business. Big grounds on both sides and plenty of parking and trees on site.
Fred Taylor Park
184 Fred Taylor Drive, Whenuapai, Auckland 0814
Why these ages?
Modest playground tucked beside the football pitches with junior multi-play + slide, small carousel, senior multi-play + slide and standard/basket swings. Junior structure and basket swing let toddlers play but the site is unfenced right beside a car park. Tweens will get bored quickly - the real draw here is football. No described water, road-frontage or tall-equipment hazards.
Access notes
The description explicitly says the playground equipment sits over a bark surface, a hard barrier for wheelchair users, with only generic off street parking mentioned nearby.
What's here
Fred Taylor Park in Whenuapai is first and foremost a football venue, home to West Coast Rangers and, from 2025, Auckland FC Reserves, with a children's playground tucked beside the pitches for families combining a match with a play stop. In December 2022 FIFA confirmed it as Vietnam's training base for the 2023 Women's World Cup, the country's first ever World Cup appearance.
