Nice playground on the clifftop with sea views. Has swings, slides, climbing net, and sandpit. Good spot for kids to play and enjoy. Public toilet here.
Kennedy Park Playground
Castor Bay, Auckland 0620
Why these ages?
Separate preschool play area with rock wall, slides and swings gives toddlers their own space. But the whole reserve is a clifftop headland above Castor Bay with a dramatic staircase down to a rocky beach and WWII tunnels/gun emplacements on the point. Gates open 7am to 9pm summer, 7am to 7pm winter — that's controlled access but the cliff edge is still a real hazard for a 2-4yo without close supervision.
Access notes
An accessible toilet sits in the car park and on street parking explicitly includes mobility spaces, but the play equipment itself is all on a bark surface, a barrier for wheels once past the car park.
What's here
Kennedy Park playground sits on the clifftop headland above Castor Bay on Auckland's North Shore, with sweeping views across to Rangitoto Island and a play mix built around a big rope climbing pole rather than the usual slide and swing set. It suits toddlers through to primary age, with a separate preschool area alongside the main equipment.
