Delightful reserve with multiple uses. The Kapiti Food Fair was excellent and took over most of the reserve!
Mazengarb Reserve
15 Scaife Drive, Paraparaumu 5032
Why these ages?
Description explicitly notes 'a dedicated toddler area sits away from the bigger equipment for the youngest visitors' - the physical separation is exactly what parents of 2-4yos need. Climbing web to a tall slide and flying fox occupy the older-kid zone. Fencing tag applies, accessible parking and toilets close by. Communication boards in English and te reo make it inclusive. Set within a sports complex off Scaife Drive - not directly on an arterial. Community orchard is a nice extra.
Access notes
Description explicitly states accessible toilets and accessible parking sit close to the play area for wheelchair and pushchair users, and the council fitted communication boards in English and te reo Maori to support non speaking children. No barriers are described.
What's here
Mazengarb Reserve's playground packs in a wide age range: a climbing web funnels kids up to a tall slide, a flying fox gives older children some speed, and a dedicated toddler area sits away from the bigger equipment for the youngest visitors. A grassy hill nearby doubles as a favourite spot for bike riding. The playground sits within a busy sports complex just off Scaife Drive in Paraparaumu, with soccer, rugby and hockey fields filling the grounds around it.
