Pohutukawa Park Playground

Pohutukawa Park's playground is a generously spread out play area on Makarini Street in Paraparaumu, roomy enough for several family groups to play at once alongside a four square court and a community orchard.

Equipment

The playground has swings including an infant swing and a basket swing, a multi play structure with slide, and a separate slide, all on bark surfacing.

Access and Inclusion

Picnic tables and seating are set around the reserve's perimeter, and on street parking is available on Makarini Street and surrounding streets. The site is also a 9 minute walk from the Arawhata Road at Marere Avenue bus stop on Route 262.

History and Cultural

The reserve includes a four square court and a community orchard whose fruit is free to pick when in season, a deliberately spread out layout so multiple family groups can use different sections without crowding.

Practical Info

No toilets are on site, so families often pair a visit with a stop at nearby Coastlands. Young trees planted through the park are expected to provide more shade as they mature.
