Moera Playground is a neighbourhood playground in Lower Hutt's Moera suburb, being upgraded in stages alongside a new community hub next door.

Good to know

  • HistoryThe suburb of Moera takes its name from the Maori phrase meaning "sleeping in the sun." The area was a tidal estuary before the 1855 Wairarapa earthquake raised the valley floor by 1-2 metres, draining the swampy terrain. The Petone Railway Workshops relocated to Moera in 1926, driving rapid residential development.

    There is only two swings there - one for small children and one for bigger children. This playground is well used with it being close to the library and community hall and really needs more than two swings.

    Mainly for older kids who can hang and swing. For younger kids there is just a slide and swing. It's in a noisey spot next to a busy road but good for a quick blast

    Glad it's been added too recently. Got another set of swings and more suitable stuff for the younger kids. A good little community playground

    Also known as the Buzzy Bee playground because of the mural on the toilet block. Great little playground with plenty of space to run around too.
