The most beautiful park in Palmerston North. There is a big rose garden with lots of rose species. The Wildbase Recovery Center is a good place for enhancing and understanding wildlife animals in New Zealand 🇳🇿. A long walking road near the park, across a small forest, makes us feel like escaping the daily busy routine. A wonderful place to go and enjoy the nature!
The Victoria Esplanade
1 Palm Drive, West End, Palmerston North 4410
Why these ages?
Destination adventure play with flying fox, in-ground trampolines, rocktopus climber, and an explicitly separate under-fives junior playground next door plus a summer paddling pool. Wider 25ha riverside park has has-fencing tag but not around the whole play, and the Manawatu River runs alongside. Split-zone case: real toddler section but wider site is not a let-them-loose environment.
Access notes
The description explicitly says sealed paths run flat and easy throughout the park, suited to buggies and wheelchair users, with onsite parking and toilets.
What's here
The playground at Victoria Esplanade is the Manawatu's largest, built around a flying fox, in-ground trampolines, a mouse wheel, whisker dishes, a rocktopus climbing structure, and forts with big slides, plus water play including an Art Deco paddling pool over summer. It's a genuine destination for a half day out, with enough variety for toddlers through to older primary kids.
