Great playground! Has a basketball court, slide, climbing section and sand play area. It’s also by the lagoon which has a spot for feeding eels!
Victor Weggery Reserve Playground
40 Queens Road, Waikanae Beach 5036
Why these ages?
Recently renewed (2023-24) with multi-level tower, junior slide with shade sail, sand play and half court. Adjacent Waimeha Lagoon and wetland boardwalk plus beach access close by = water risk, playground not fenced. Junior sand/slide zone caters to toddlers but no perimeter fence, so has-toddler-zone rather than toddler-friendly. Wide age appeal but tower and half court favour primary age.
Access notes
Description states the refreshed climbing structures sit on a bark surface, a barrier for wheelchair users, and a reviewer explicitly calls the reserve not very wheelchair friendly, noting only half of the adjacent boardwalk bush walk is accessible.
