Grey River splits this stretch of coast into two playground pockets, the town side and Cobden across the bridge. Jellyman Park sits on the Cobden bank, a beachfront sports ground with a playground tucked beside the fields and enough parking for a quick after-school stop. Back across the water, King Park gives the town centre grid an easy pram-length break between errands. South at Karoro, Seebeck Children's Park trades the river for the open Tasman, its climbing frame and swings shaded enough to linger while an older kid drifts toward the sand.
Dixon Park on Tainui Street is the everyday workhorse and the wet-weather fallback, its fenced toddler corner and shaded climbing gear built for a Coast drizzle, with a bigger kids' run and a barbecue nearby for the picnic after. Parking is easy at all four, no permit-lot squeeze anywhere on this list. Pack a raincoat regardless of the forecast, since the district pulls some of the heaviest rainfall in the country, and a still, dry morning is the cue to head for Seebeck's beach or Jellyman's river bank instead.
