Playgrounds in South Waikato

Arawa Crescent Playground is the easiest sell in South Waikato: an eagles nest swing, a supernova climbing dome and a boat shaped climber sit right where the Lake Moananui path starts, so parents get the 2.5 kilometre loop while kids work through the equipment. The rest of Tokoroa fills in with smaller, fenced neighbourhood stops. Dunham Park sits at the base of Colson's Hill with a stream running through it and shade from mature trees, and Glenkill Street Playground tucks a slide and swings into a tree-shaded reserve with a walkway through to Lauriston Place.

Elizabeth Park and Inman Reserve, a small fenced triangle off Chartwell Drive, cover central Tokoroa for the after-school crowd, both a straightforward multi-play unit and swings on bark. Parking is never a fight here; Lake Moananui has plenty of space by the Arawa Crescent entrance. Putāruru's one entry, Barnett Street Reserve, is a smaller, newer playground with a basket swing and a shade gazebo over the picnic tables. Tokoroa grew up around the Kinleith timber mill, which is why the reserves are this generous for a town this size.
